Hanz's duty as livestock guardian ended last Sunday, 2/8. He was going on 13 years. In October of last year, we discovered he had a mass growing on his right shoulder, which the vet suspected was cancer. It was aggressive and it had gotten to the point where it was a chore to get up to eat/drink and go to the bathroom, so we knew it was time.
We'll remember him for his friendly demeanor, good manners and dedication to his job of protecting his goat herd.

I got a message today asking if we were associated with some other page or business on Facebook that was requesting to put a deposit down and using our address. I can say with certainty that we are not associated with any other pages or businesses! We do use OpenHerd to keep track of our herd, but that is all. Protect yourselves and watch out for scams, it can be dangerous out there!
Ok now to lighten the mood and show you what we've been up to recently, here are Curdis and Wheylon, my two "for fun" goats that I'm letting grow out horns and taking on walks in the woods 😁

It was time again for a full barn cleanout! Everyone looks pretty pleased with the job. 😁💚

Today we said goodbye to Rosemary, a dedicated 17-year-old barn cat who was keeping the barn free of rodents up until about a month ago. She had a long, very fulfilled life. In fact, we like to joke about how the vet told us barn cats only live 4-5 years... well not Rosemary! She even wins the award for longest lived animal we've ever owned to date. She was loved and we will miss her SO much!!
