Let’s talk about Deacon. 🤍

Every once in a while, one comes along that manages to be the whole package. 🤍

“Southern Salvation” — Deacon — is by Shining C Chrome and out of our perlino dun mare, Boones Snow Wrangler.

From the moment he hit the ground, this c**t has been exactly what we hoped for.

✔️ 7-panel N/N

But what I love most about Deacon has nothing to do with his color.

It’s his mind.

He’s the kind of c**t that meets you at the gate.

The kind that wants to know what you’re doing.

The kind that follows you around just because he can. 🤍

The older he gets, the more he reminds me why we made this cross in the first place.

Strong bone.

Athletic build.

A pedigree packed with versatility.

And a disposition that makes you want to spend time with him.

Foals don’t stay foals for very long.

And when I look at Deacon, I don’t just see a baby horse.

I see a future ranch horse.

A future performance horse.

A future partner for someone who appreciates a kind eye, a willing mind, and a horse that’s enjoyable to be around every day.

One minute she was peacefully standing in her dirt pile.

The next?

Something apparently emerged from the enchanted forest and chose violence. 👀

I’m not saying there was a dragon hiding in the dirt pile…

but I’m also not saying there wasn’t. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Because what followed was a series of emergency aerial maneuvers, dramatic leaps, and a full-speed retreat across the kingdom.

Then, just as suddenly as it began…

the danger was gone.

The dragon was defeated.

The realm was safe.

And Story returned to grazing as though none of us had witnessed the incident. 🌱

Honestly, I think this filly spends half her day in a pasture…

and the other half starring in a fairytale nobody else can see. 🧚✨

So apparently while the adults are out doing responsible horse things…

the babies have been running an entire underground operation in the trees. 🤔😂

It started with Story acting EXTREMELY suspicious and informing me she had “a secret to share.” 👀

Naturally…
this tiny little woodland goblin immediately demanded skritches as payment before giving me access to classified information. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Next thing I know…

I’m being escorted through approximately 14 miles (or feet 🤣) of tiny horse trails, low hanging branches, hidden entrances, and what honestly felt like a fairy forest created exclusively by children with no supervision. 😅

Inside we discovered:
🌲 Preacher guarding the entrance like a tiny security officer
🌲 a corgi that may or may not be head of security
🌲 at least one tiny white creature living in the shadows
🌲 and several babies behaving like they were the gatekeepers of an ancient kingdom. 😂

At one point Preacher literally tried to enforce a:
🚫 “NO GIRLS ALLOWED” 🚫
policy in the clubhouse…

which lasted approximately 4.2 seconds before Story ignored him entirely. 😌

Honestly…

it felt like we accidentally walked into a tiny feral foal civilization. 😂

Do your babies have their own little sanctuary they like to visit and play in? 👀

Or are they all secretly planning world domination inside their woodland headquarters? 😂

So naturally we conducted a completely serious scientific investigation to see who around here would actually allow us to inspect their tiny little horse teefers. 😂

The lineup included:
👀 4 foals
👀 1 yearling
👀 and OG himself… 37 year old Oldie Goldie. 🤍

Some participants were extremely cooperative. 😌

Some immediately acted like we were violating multiple constitutional rights. 🇺🇸

And a few seemed personally offended that we even asked. 😂

Honestly the facial expressions alone were worth this entire experiment. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The funniest part is how different every single horse reacts.

Some are:
✨ “absolutely mother, inspect away.” ✨

Others are:
👁️👄👁️
“why are your hands in my face and who approved this.”

Meanwhile OG has officially reached the age where he simply tolerates all of us equally… kinda… but he doesn’t have much for teefers. 😅🤍

Watch until the end because Oldie Goldie’s are absolutely the sweetest. 😂
