Wolfgressive

Just like the genre’s pioneers, Wolfgressive isn’t afraid to break “musical rules.” Mike’s songs are story- and emotion-driven, intricately weaving chord progressions and melody to create a truly unique listening experience. Although Wolfgressive’s lineup is fluid, it is truly an ensemble effort. At its center is Mike who kicks off the creative process by developing an idea, a chord progression, and some melody and lyrical ideas. He then brings them to the other musicians and they collaborate, filling out the song, building its sound and groove, and often taking it far beyond its original boundaries. Mike’s musical chops are broad and run deep. Originally a brass player, Mike gigged for many years with both his own bands and also as a sideman on regional tours for many acts, including Little Richard and Frank Sinatra, plus logging time in musical pit orchestras. Always hungry for new musical endeavors, Mike soon picked up stringed instruments and began his love affair with the technical side of music and recording. It’s this fascination with virtual studio techniques that has allowed him to explore and develop new musical sounds. His trusty and robust KK synth keyboard provides him a wide range of virtual instruments to program, play, and transform. Based outside of Atlanta, Mike started Wolfgressive in 2018 as an experiment while he wound down a chapter in his life devoted to the visual arts. “But it’s always been there.,” he says. “It’s always what I wanted to do. I just needed the right time and place. I’ve spent the majority of the time up until now teaching myself and experimenting. Now I’m applying and loving it.”
