I wish I could go back and sit beside her—the first-time mom who was doing her best but doubting it at every turn. The one who read every book, Googled every symptom, and held her baby close, wondering if she was getting any of it right.

If I could, here’s what I’d tell her:

💛 You don’t have to enjoy every moment. Some moments will be hard. That doesn’t mean you love your baby any less.

💛 Stop measuring your worth by how much you get done. The dishes can wait. The to-do list will still be there tomorrow. The snuggles won’t.

💛 Your instincts are stronger than you think. No book or expert knows your baby the way you do. Trust yourself.

💛 You’re not failing just because it’s hard. Hard things stretch you, but they don’t break you. You were made for this.

💛 One day, you’ll miss the things that feel exhausting now. The middle-of-the-night rocking. The way they only want you. The tiny fingers curled around yours.

And most of all? You’re doing better than you think.

To the first-time mamas in the thick of it—I see you. And one day, you’ll see just how much love you poured into these days. What’s one thing you’d tell yourself as a first-time mom? Drop it in the comments!

This morning, my 5-year-old didn’t need me to open his breakfast bar.

A small thing. An expected thing. The kind of independence I used to wish for when I was balancing a baby on my hip and a toddler at my feet.

But as I watched him tear open the wrapper on his own, I felt it—that little pang in my chest.

Because somehow, in the middle of the ordinary days, my baby turned into a big kid. The one who used to reach for my hand now writes his name and counts by 10s.

And the thing is, I never knew the last time he needed my help would actually be the last.

That’s how it happens, doesn’t it?

✨The last time they mispronounce a word in that way that makes you smile.

✨The last time they ask you to carry them up the stairs.

✨The last time they curl up in your lap without their legs hanging over the side.

No big moment. No warning. Just one day, you realize it’s already behind you.

And that’s why I do what I do.

Because these in-between moments—the ones that don’t seem like milestones until they’re gone—deserve to be held onto.

💬 What’s one “last time” that snuck up on you? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to hear.

📅 If you want to hold onto this season just a little longer, let’s make it happen. I have two spots left for family photos in March. Send me a DM with the word, “Family” and let’s make sure this season is documented.
