Ever since Mel was a little girl listening to Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings with her grandfather, music has been a part of her soul. Singing along to girl bands on MTV back in the early 90's made her realize she had a passion for singing in front of a crowd! Her training as a singer started in High School. One of her proudest performances was when her high school chamber choir sang at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Songwriting started out as a curiosity after learning how to play guitar. After finishing her first song, she knew this was her calling. Mel Soul is more than one specific genre to define her performance. She creates music for your soul!
