Preston Ridge Dental
Whether it is gum health or worn and broken teeth we are hear to help you find the healthy smile you want and the healthy smile you deserve.
Your natural tooth is worth protecting. I mean that more than almost anything I say in the chair.
Here's something most people don't realize: enamel is the hardest substance in your entire body. Harder than bone. Nothing we build in a lab truly matches it.
So if you grind or clench hard enough to wear down your own enamel, the hardest material you've got, chances are you'll eventually chip or fracture something man-made too. A porcelain crown, as strong as it is, still isn't your tooth.
That's why I always look for the most conservative path first. The more of your natural tooth we preserve now, the more you'll have to work with later, when there will be even better options than we have today.

I kept having the same visits with patients in my Frisco dental office. Patients would sit down in my chair and their gums would be bleeding. We could effectively treat them and reset them at their visits but then when they returned in 4-6 months we would see the same thing.
Same treatment, same conversation, same result. Time and time again.
And at some point I just thought, there HAS to be something more. I can't keep doing the same thing every visit and expecting a different outcome. That's not what I got into dentistry for. I don't want to just treat what I see. I want to know WHY it's there. I want to help improve things and really make a change in patientsβ health and lives.
So we started asking different questions. Not just, "Are you flossing?" but, "Have you had blood work done?" Not just, "Your gums are bleeding," but, "What's your A1C? What's your vitamin D? Are you breathing through your nose at night or are you a mouth breather ?β
We started looking at saliva, biofilm, nitric oxide levels and pH connecting things that nobody was connecting before.
Now when patients come in, we actually have DIFFERENT CONVERSATIONS. Things improve and we can see WHY. Or they don't improve, and now we know to look somewhere new instead of repeating the same cycle.

Sometimes the most caring thing I can say is, "Let's wait."
That's not what you expect to hear in a dental office. But conservative care means knowing the right treatment at the wrong time isn't really treatment at all.
When a patient asks about an implant, I don't just look at the gap. I look at the whole picture. Your age. Whether you're in pain. Whether you're still growing. And most importantly, whether your mouth is actually ready.
If your gums aren't healthy and your oral microbiome isn't balanced, placing an implant now sets you up to struggle later. So sometimes we heal the foundation first, then do the work that lasts.
Waiting isn't doing nothing. It's doing the right thing in the right order so it works for YOU.
Is it your time to treat or your time to wait? Let's figure it out together.

How much water have you had today? Not coffee or Diet Coke. Actual WATER.
I ask this at almost every appointment now, and the answer is almost always, "Not enough." Which I get. We're all so busy that we just run on caffeine and hope for the best.
But when you're not hydrated, your saliva production drops. And you NEED that saliva to neutralize acid, wash away bacteria, help remineralize your teeth. Without enough of it, your mouth turns acidic.
Bacteria LOVE an acidic environment. They absolutely THRIVE in it.
So you're doing everything right at home. Brushing, flossing, all of it and your mouth is still fighting an uphill battle because the environment itself is working against you.
It doesn't have to be complicated. More water. Hydrating foods like cucumbers and berries. Electrolytes so your body actually absorbs what you're taking in.
