"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." Many of us learned that rhyme as children. It teaches that words have no power over us, especially if we don't allow them to. The truth is that words can be powerful. Remember that God created the world by speaking--"...the Lord said, and it was so." God made us humans in his image. Adam was given authority to speak names over animals, describing their natures and qualities. My point? Our words can have tremendous power to bless or curse. On a certain level, we can create with words. Today let us think carefully before we speak and use our powerful words to create blessing and bring God's kingdom to bear on everything around us.
