I would like to clear up some misinformation roaming around regarding the FEMA cleanup debacle. Attached is a notice from Assemblyman Jim Patterson. This pretty much sums it up, but, this is not FREE! Your insurance award is your money to apply to your rebuild. The debris removal is only one line item of 30 that you will need to consider. If you want FEMA's assistance, you cannot touch your property until they inspect it. If you use FEMA, you will need to guarantee the work with the "debris removal portion" of your insurance award. That means you are paying for it out of the money your insurance company awards you! Also, the Debris Removal Portion is not decided by your adjuster. It will be determined by your Contractor. That's what I do! I've been in constant contact with the County Environmental Health Dept and I already had this info. I have a great reputation with several adjusters and this isn't my first negotiation. Also, I am already pullling Debris Removal permits and I can expedite this work for you. It doesn't hurt to talk. My Fire Rebuild Seminar was a huge success. 9 homeowners showed up with approximately 22 people in attendance, and we had a very productive discussion regarding the protocol of getting through the County Building Department and beginning the rebuild process. Four homeowners have engaged my services and we are off to the races.
