When my dear friend Nancy from learned that we needed baked goods for our state track meet concessions she baked 3 dozen choc chip blueberry cookies to donate. This dear soul does not have any kids in the Freeport schools! She just wanted to help. She sent along this beautiful original artwork to wish my daughter good luck! We got word late yesterday that the meet is cancelled today. Heartbreaking for the kids and our community. But, there are these delicious cookies and beautiful, generous, big hearted friends. Come and sample these yummy cookies at the shop today and please stop into Abacus too, let’s support beautiful people doing beautiful things. Love you Nancy. ❤️ ❤️

I feel free and adventurous when it comes to decorating a home…trying this or that, the fluidity of changing things to meet moods and season. When it comes to making art, though I feel a resistance that I don’t quite understand. A dear friend encouraged me to play with watercolors and to try to recreate this card. Maybe it’s hard to just play? I’m embracing the seasons of my own life, leaning into the places I feel resistance to see what there is to learn. Cheers to growing. Thanks for challenging me, Julie.

I love to have my hands in soil. I love seeing the early green shoots of a spring garden, and lovingly tending something now with trust that the full bloom is coming. Building a business is like that. It starts with a dream, works some new muscles, requires commitment and patience. Humor, perseverance and some really great, supportive neighbors help too! Since I opened last summer, one of the most common requests I get is for plant pots! I’m excited to share Bergs Potter. Started in Copenhagen in the dark days of WW2 with the inspired pairing of fresh flowers + aged pottery and the desire to bring life and color to war-depressed neighbors. The design is sublime, the craftsmanship is simple and impeccable. Here are a few pics but come and check them out for yourself. The perfect Mother’s Day gift!

School vacation has been a time of connecting and exploring, time with friends old and new, getting inspired by nature, art, architecture and old homes. I’m so happy to be back in my shop doing what I love and sharing new pretties with you. Open 10-5 all weekend.
