A client came in recently convinced that hyaluronic acid "didn't work" for her skin.
She'd been using it every day for three months. Her skin still felt tight and dry.
I asked her one question: "Are you applying it to damp skin or dry skin?"
Dry skin.
That was it. That was the entire problem.
Hyaluronic acid is a humectant — it draws moisture from its environment and holds it in the skin. On damp skin, it pulls water in from the surface layer and locks it there. On dry skin, in a dry room, it pulls moisture out of the deeper layers of your skin to compensate.
The ingredient wasn't failing her. The application method was.
She changed one step — dampened her skin before applying — and noticed a difference within a week.
This is why I spend so much of my consultations talking about how to use products, not just which ones to buy.
The right ingredient, applied the wrong way, gets blamed for not working.
Every time.
If your routine feels like it's plateaued, it's worth asking: is it the product — or is it the method?

applying it to completely dry skin in an air-conditioned room.
The ingredient isn't the problem. The application is.
Damp skin. HA. Moisturizer on top. Give it two weeks.
