As 2026 begins and I reflect on not only this past year, but the past three and a half years as owner of my cottage baking business, Raize the Bar, I have come to a bittersweet decision moving forward. Although I have enjoyed making your days a bite sweeter throughout these past few years and have been so very grateful for all of the support and brownie/blondie love ❤️ from my loyal customers, I have made the tough decision to shut down my business as of January 1st to pursue some other interests/endeavors and concentrate more on caring for my mom. It has been such a pleasure getting to know each and every one of you at the farmers markets I participated in, the yearly events I attended and all of the community food truck nights I was a part of! I especially want to thank all of the wonderful vendors I have befriended throughout this journey, as they are such a special community of hard working people❣️

Please know that this was not an easy decision, as I put my heart, soul and love of baking into each bite of my artisan bar goodies and hope that in some way these tasty treats added some sweetness to your lives 🥰 Frederick may be a city that is growing, but to me it has a small town feel and I am hoping that although you might not see me in my usual business capacity, our paths will cross again in the future‼️May your new year be filled with lots of love 💕, peace ☮️ and hope for a brighter year than last❣️

Meet Rhonda, one of our tasting room educators since day 1! Rhonda says “As a New York transplant, I have called Frederick my home for 21 years and have always loved the feeling of community here, along with the amazing downtown vibe. I love going on morning walks with friends through the city and then having breakfast at one of our cozy café/coffee shops!

My passion for the hospitality industry led me to attend Johnson and Wales University where I graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts and Foodservice Management, which then led me to a career in food service management and eventually led me to becoming a culinary arts and hospitality educator for two decades! When I left teaching six years ago, I followed my enthusiasm and passion for wine into the wine industry as a tasting room educator/server. So fortunate to have been on the opening team for Simple Theory, as I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Melissa and Parker’s vision this past year and look forward to seeing how it continues to unfold!

Big, bold, juicy, jammy reds are my go-to wines, so the 2022 Petit Verdot checks all those boxes and has become my favorite!!”
