Behind the Badge: Meet Kyle, BSN, RN, Float Pool Nurse 💙🪪

For some nurses, each shift begins in the same unit. For Kyle, each shift begins with the question: where am I needed most?

As a Float Pool Nurse at Williamson Health, Kyle supports teams across the hospital, stepping in wherever help is needed and caring for patients in a variety of areas.

“You have to be okay with change,” Kyle said. “To be in the Float Pool, you really have to be a big fan of learning.”

Kyle joined Williamson Health in 2019 as a nurse resident on the cardiac floor before moving into critical care and later transitioning to the Float Pool. Over time, he has learned the rhythms of different units, built relationships with team members across the hospital and found meaning in the variety of the role.

“The Float Pool gets the benefit of knowing everybody,” Kyle said. “We get to meet so many more people and so many more personalities, and that adds variety and fun to the job.”

For Kyle, the reward comes in helping patients through some of their hardest moments — whether that means providing clinical care, helping them rest overnight or simply making them smile.

“If you can make them smile, it means a lot,” he said.
