Syed Wasim Sajjad Jafry of Canton, Michigan, passed away today 6/1/26 at 8:41 am in Canton.

Originally from Allahabad, he studied at AMU in 60's and settled in US since 70's. He was a former president of AMU Alumni Association of Michigan and was kind supporter and contributor of AMU Fraternity both in US and Aligarh.

He is survived by his wife and 2 sons.

His Janaza prayer will be at MCWS 40440 Palmer Rd , Canton Mi 48188
after Zohar prayers at 2 pm
tomorrow 6/2/26 and will be buried at Knollwood Cemetery in Canton afterwards.

AMU Women’s College Students Win Silver at Indiaskate National Championship

ALIGARH, May 2: Students of Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University, brought laurels to the institution as Nabeela Khan (B.Sc. Biochemistry) and Ashfia Khan (B.A. Psychology) secured a silver medal at the Indiaskate National Championship 2026 held from April 23 to 28.

Leading the Uttar Pradesh team, captain Nabeela Khan displayed strong leadership and determination throughout the tournament. In the final against Tamil Nadu, the team delivered a spirited performance, finishing 16–8 to clinch the silver medal.

Both players played a key role in guiding the team to the finals, showcasing excellent coordination, resilience and competitive spirit at the national level.
