This Independence Day, the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation joins in celebrating 250 years of our nation’s freedom, a milestone worthy of joy and gratitude.

Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, the Foundation gives thanks to God for the many gifts this nation has received and nurtured: freedom, opportunity, and a spirit of welcome that has long drawn people from every corner of the world to build a better life. This spirit of American hospitality, the impulse to open our doors and care for our neighbors calls us toward our shared humanity and solidarity with each other even amid our differences.

This legacy resonates deeply with the Foundation's mission to serve immigrants and refugees, mothers, babies, new families, and all of our vulnerable neighbors in Allen County, each person a reflection of God's dignity and love for all people.
On this joyful anniversary, the Foundation asks the intercession of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the United States, that our nation would be led with God’s wisdom and grace, drawing us ever closer to His will and to one another.

Happy Independence Day from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation, and may God bless our nation with 250 more years of freedom and solidarity!

On Friday, community members gathered at McMillen Pavillion at Franke Park to celebrate World Refugee Day. With Solidarity as a theme, the event recognized the resilience, perseverance and contributions of immigrant and refugee families who call Allen County home. The St. Joseph Community Health Foundation was proud to sponsor the event, and Foundation CEO Matt Smith was honored to serve as emcee.

Catholic Social Teaching calls us to recognize the dignity of every person, stand in solidarity with the vulnerable, and welcome the stranger as our neighbor. These principles are at the core of the Foundation's mission to improve the health and well-being of immigrants and refugees in Allen County, and Friday's celebration was a meaningful reflection of those shared values.

The Foundation congratulates Amani Family Services, Catholic Charities, International House, in planning and executing such a thought-provoking and enjoyable event. Thank you to all community partners whose work makes Fort Wayne a more welcoming and healthier community for everyone.
