Training for the worst-case scenario.

FWFD crews trained on a simulated house fire involving multiple victims and rescues. Incidents like these require firefighters to rapidly transition from aggressive fireground operations to providing critical patient care in a matter of moments. The ability to pivot from firefighter to clinician is a skill that demands continuous training, teamwork, and adaptability.

While the hands-on training is invaluable, the learning doesn't stop when the scenario ends. Equally important is the after-action review, where crews evaluate their performance, identify successes, discuss challenges, and look for opportunities to improve. A huge thank you to all the EMS and Fire Training Instructors.

Train hard. Review honestly. Improve continuously.

Make fireworks safety part of your holiday celebration!

Leave the fireworks to the professionals whenever possible. If you choose to use legal consumer fireworks, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, keep a bucket of water or hose nearby, never allow young children to handle fireworks, and never relight a firework that doesn’t ignite. Keep spectators at a safe distance and be mindful of your neighbors, pets, and dry conditions.
A few simple precautions can help prevent injuries and fires, ensuring a safe celebration.
From all of us at the Fort Wayne Fire Department, have a safe and Happy Independence Day!

Collaboration for Community/Industry Safety

The Fort Wayne Fire Department is proud to partner with OmniSource, Zero Seven Films, Synapse Digital Studio, and REMA to develop fire and life safety educational videos that will help keep our community safe. Through this collaboration, we are combining industry expertise, emergency response experience, and a shared commitment to public safety to create engaging and informative content.

These videos will not only be shared within the Fort Wayne community, but will also be shared within the recycling industry across the country. Together, we are working to educate, prevent emergencies, and provide valuable safety information that can make a difference when it matters most.

Thank you to all parties for your partnership and dedication to advancing community risk reduction through education. By working together, we can help build safer communities both locally and nationwide.
