🔥 KOP Member November Spotlight: Dr. Joaella DeTiege-Lane – Class of 2018 🔥

From the heart of Louisiana to the spirit of the Krewe of Pyros, Dr. DeTiege-Lane embodies what it means to live with FIYAH, fellowship, and purpose!

Attended Xavier Prep from (1984–1986), and a proud graduate of Madison High School in California (1986–1988), and Kansas State University (1995), Dr. DeTiege-Lane hails from the Westbank, Gert-Town, and the Seventh Ward, but now calls Fort Washington, Maryland her second home.

Her journey with the Krewe began at the 2018 Membership Mixer, where she instantly felt the love, culture, and connection that reminded her of home. To Dr. DeTiege-Lane, KOP is family. A space where love, kindness, and togetherness unite Louisiana roots from Breaux Bridge to St. Martinville and beyond.

Professionally and personally, Dr. DeTiege-Lane lives by truth, integrity, ethics, and a commitment to serving family, community, and people. Values that align perfectly with KOP’s mission. She’s especially proud of her family’s strength, her Presidential Management Council rotation with HUD, and the legacy of greatness she hails from.

She is the granddaughter of civil rights activist Mandeville DeTiege, who won a 1958 U.S. Supreme Court case for the rights of Crescent City Golf Club members; the niece of legendary jazz trumpeter Milton Batiste; and the cousin of King Richard, a fixture of the New Orleans brass band culture.

Fun fact: Dr. DeTiege-Lane and her husband, Anthony Lane, were the first married couple to join KOP together back in 2018!

When she’s not serving with FIYAH, Dr. DeTiege-Lane loves dancing (as a NOLA LOLA Sheauxgirl as Magnolia Noir Royale), traveling, shopping, reading, and spending time with family.
