When we have a hard freeze:
If you have a variable speed pump your pump has built-in freeze protection and will come on by itself.
Pumps operated by a timer: remove the off tripper so pump will run 24 hours per day. If your pool is on an automation system program it to run 24 hours a day. A hard freeze consists of 2 consecutive nights at 28 degrees or lower. Keep pump running for the duration of the freeze period!
Check your pump occasionally to be sure it is running 24 hours!!!!
