Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard

Established in 1992, the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard provides a link to Fort Riley's and Kansas’ historic past. The CGMCG is made of active-duty servicemembers who travel to ceremonies and events across the country to portray federal Soldiers on the plains of Kansas during the Civil War era. On this beautiful Tuesday, the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard takes pride in spotlighting Sgt Harrell through our new segment, Meet the Troopers!

Sgt Harrell, hailing from Ponca City, Oklahoma, brings over six years of experience serving in the United States Army. Since joining the team in July 2024, Sgt Harrell has been instrumental as the NCOIC of the maintenance department, primary armorer, and a Tactics Demonstration Team Rider.

Stemming from a family with extensive military service, Sgt Harrell is dedicated to serving the United States Army and the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard. Sgt Harrell advises potential recruits to embody humility and discretion, noting the importance of knowing when to be seen and heard. A highlight of his tenure includes participating in the Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
