Exploring the area around Nairn, including:
- the ruins of Elgin Cathedral, which they removed the waterproof roof from in the 1500s and low and behold, the roof eventually collapsed. So it’s been ruins like this since the early 1600s.
-walked though downtown Elgin to find a coffee shop.
- enjoyed the beautiful flowers at the Biblical Garden in Elgin (that foxglove is as tall as me!!)
- a walk through the Culbin Forest which has grown on old sand dunes to a view tower.
- to the park and beach in Nairn.
- and walking back to our lovely bnb the Invernairne through the sweet gate that opens on the waterfront.

Welcome to Torshavn, the quaint coastal capital “city” of the Faroe Islands. The sod-roof homes are so common here I’ve already almost stopped noticing them! A few cute cafes and a great bookshop, as well as a busy harbor with all sizes and manner of boats.

We’ve arrived in São Jorge! It’s our 4th time visiting the Azores but our first time to another island in the archipelago other than São Miguel, which is the biggest island. Whereas São Miguel has 140,000 inhabitants, São Jorge has just over 8,000. We are staying in these perfect little casitas with this incredible view across the way to the island of Pico, which is also the tallest mountain in all of Portugal, and is 7,700 ft. Follow along for some new island adventures!
