As I come to the end of my time as a Larimer County Commissioner, I have a few parting thoughts I’d like to share.

First, I’m so proud to live in Larimer County. During my time learning about and serving the residents of the County, I’ve realized just how good we have it here. Our elected officials all work well together, which makes for better services for our residents. Additionally, our budget is sound, our economy is healthy, and our staff is vested in protecting Larimer County’s assets.

Speaking of our employees, I’ve never found a more cohesive, thriving work culture, with happy, driven staff. Everyone I’ve met has been helpful and positive, wanting to make Larimer County the best it can be. As I return to my career as a REALTOR®, I am sad to leave this environment, but grateful to have been a part of it.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to all of you, the residents of Larimer County. So many of you supported and encouraged me through my campaign, and into my service as a Commissioner. You wrote me with comments, advice, concerns, and complaints, all of which helped me to be a better Commissioner.

We have three great servants leading Larimer County’s Commissioner’s Office to the future, and I will assist and support them in any way that I can. I plan to resume serving Larimer County via different County Boards and Commissions, and will continue volunteering with local non-profits, such as Realities for Children, Neighbor to Neighbor, and Disabled Resource Services. I encourage you to step up help those that are near and dear to your heart, as well.
Again, thank you, Larimer County, I’ll be seeing you around!

If you need me, I'm at 970-402-5642 or [email protected].

Good morning, Larimer County! Just wanted to say "Thank you, all!" for your support during this campaign. Congratulations to Senator Kefalas on his win.

I can say that I'm very proud of the way we ran our campaign, we didn't compromise our values, and we worked extremely hard. My "gentleman's agreement" with John lasted, and our campaign could have been a model for many of the State and National Races on civility.

I really need to thank a few folks here for their work above and beyond: Mackenzie Davin has been an awesome Campaign Manager, she did so much to help us get to the finish line. My son, Van Dougherty, helped me so much in his free time, I really appreciate you, kiddo! And my wife, Mary Nagler, has been amazing with her patience and tireless work for the campaign. I couldn't have done this without you guys!!

I will be continuing my term as County Commissioner for District 1 until January 6, so if you need me, that's where I'll be.
