After 20 years of service, SFC Joel Turner retires from the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Action Shooting Team.
Turner enlisted in 2006 and served with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, before joining the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit in 2010. Over the past decade, he competed at the highest levels of the sport while serving as an instructor and leader on the Action Shooting Team.
Throughout his career, Turner earned multiple national titles and consistently placed among the top competitors in major 3-gun competitions.
His impact extends beyond competition, helping develop Soldiers and strengthen marksmanship across the force.

Staff Sgt. Jared Desrosiers and Sgt. Dustin Carr claimed top honors at the Mossy Pond Mow Down, a field-style precision rifle competition that tests marksmanship, movement and endurance in real-world conditions.
Competing against a field of shooters, the team navigated long stages, wind calls and time pressure to secure the overall win at the south Georgia event.
Their performance reflects the same fundamentals emphasized by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit—efficient movement, disciplined shot ex*****on and the ability to perform under stress.
