There’s something powerful about seeing the future of Forney in action—one day in the garden, the next in the company of heroes who protect it.
On Friday, I had the pleasure of spending time with students from Smart Start Montessori as they got their hands dirty—learning firsthand how food is grown alongside Forney’s Food Program Assistance Team. There’s nothing like watching young minds connect the dots between hard work and a harvest. And yes, they got to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables!) of that labor—fresh strawberries, mangoes, and veggies straight from the source.
Then on Saturday evening, we shifted from planting seeds to honoring courage at our first-ever Forney Police Department Awards Banquet. We recognized the life-saving, heroic efforts of officers who show up for this community every single day. The theme was Denim and Diamonds—while I didn’t go full cowboy, I did enjoy breaking in a new belt buckle (courtesy of State Rep. Keith Bell).
From classrooms to community service, from gardens to guardians—this is what makes Forney special. We’re raising up a generation that understands both how to grow something and how to stand for something.
