Here’s something people don’t always say out loud:

You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone.

A lot of us have:
- Hundreds of online “friends”
- Busy schedules
- Crowded calendars

…but no one who really knows what’s going on inside.

At The Well Church, we talk a lot about **biblical community**—
but in simple terms, that means:

- People who walk beside you, not just watch from a distance
- People who pray for you when life falls apart
- People who ask, “How are you really doing?” and mean it
- People who will celebrate your wins and sit with you in your losses

You don’t have to be “religious” to need that.
You just have to be human.

If you’re longing for a place where you can be known and still loved, we’d love to meet you.

Why Does Life Feel So Dark Sometimes?

Ever feel like you’re stumbling your way through life?

You keep hitting the same walls:
- Same arguments
- Same mistakes
- Same private battles

And you wonder, “What’s wrong with me?”

Here’s a different way to see it:

You don’t stub your toe in the dark because you’re clumsy.
You stub it because you can’t see.

The Bible uses simple language for this:
It calls confusion, twisted truth, and hidden things “darkness.”
And it calls clarity, truth, and real hope “light.”

Jesus describes Himself like this:
“I am the light of the world.”

Meaning:
- He doesn’t just offer a few tips
- He doesn’t just make us “a little better”
- He actually helps us *see*

If you’ve been walking through some dark spaces lately, here’s a simple prayer you can try:

> “God, if You’re real and You really are light, show me where I’m in the dark and help me see what’s true.”

You don’t have to have all the answers.
Sometimes the bravest first step is just admitting, “I can’t see on my own.”

If you’d like to explore who Jesus really is, you’re always welcome to visit us at The Well Church in Foley.

We meet at the OWA Theater, and there’s a seat for you.

If you don’t have a church home—or maybe you’ve been out of church for a while—we’d love to personally invite you to join us this Sunday.

You don’t have to have it all together. You don’t have to know all the answers. Just come as you are and let God meet you where you are.

We’d be honored to meet you in person.

“What If Growth With God Isn’t About Being Perfect?”

A lot of people think “religion” means:
- Pretending you’ve got it together
- Never admitting you’re struggling
- Keeping your doubts and questions to yourself

So they decide church isn’t for them.

If that’s you, you’re not alone.

Here’s something different to consider:
What if spiritual growth isn’t about *being perfect* for God…
but about honestly *growing* with Him?

The Bible talks about “working out” your faith.

That doesn’t mean:
“Fix yourself so God will finally accept you.”

It’s more like the gym:
You don’t go to become a human.
You go because you *are* human and you want to get stronger, healthier, more whole.

In the same way, we don’t come to God because we’re already “good enough.”

We come because we’re hurting, confused, broken, or searching…

and we want to change.

Real growth with God often looks like:
- Slowly getting more honest about where you’re really at
- Letting Him “prune” some things: habits, mindsets, grudges, addictions
- Noticing that over time you’re just a little more patient, kind, grounded, and at peace
- Watching your reactions change when life throws you curveballs

It does *not* usually look like:
- One emotional moment that magically fixes everything
- Going to church once and expecting to be a different person overnight
- Saying, “I’ll try harder” with no real change in your daily rhythms

In our teaching recently at The Well Church in Foley, we talked about how growth is a lot like a fruit tree.

Sometimes it’s being pruned. It looks worse before it looks better.
Then, a season or two later, there’s more fruit than ever.

Maybe that’s why your life feels like things are being cut back right now.

It might not be punishment. It might be preparation.

If you’re not someone who’d naturally walk into a church, but you:
- Feel like there *has* to be more than just work, stress, and Netflix
- Sense that something in you needs to change, but you’re not sure how
- Want to believe God hasn’t given up on you

We would love to walk with you.

We’re The Well Church in Foley, AL.

We meet at the:
📍 OWA Theater – 205 S. OWA Blvd., Foley, AL 36535
🕙 Sundays @ 10am
🔗 www.thewellfoley.com

You can expect:
- Honest teaching about real life, not spiritual fluff
- People who will meet you where you are, not where you “should be”
- Space to ask questions and wrestle with faith
- A community that talks about Jesus, but doesn’t pretend to be Him

If you’re ready to take even a tiny step, here’s a simple way to start this week:
1. Take 5 minutes each day and talk to God in your own words. No script. Just honesty.
2. Open a Bible app and read Philippians chapter 2 slowly.
3. Ask: “God, what are You trying to grow or change in me?”

And if you want to explore this journey with others instead of alone, join us this Sunday at OWA Theater.

It’s okay to come with more questions than answers.

You’ll be in good company.

“You’re Not the Sun. You’re the Moon.”

At night, the moon looks so bright in the sky.

But here’s the thing:
- It doesn’t actually produce any light.
- It just reflects the sun.

In a way, we’re all like that.

We weren’t designed to be our own endless source of:
- Truth
- Strength
- Direction
- Hope

Yet most of us live like we 'have' to be:
“I have to figure it all out.”
“I have to fix myself.”
“I have to be strong enough.”
“I have to know my own truth.”

And then we wonder why we’re exhausted.

When you try to be your own sun, you burn out.

The message of Jesus is wildly different. He claimed to be “the light of the world.”

In other words:
“I’m the source. You don’t have to be.”

Following Him isn’t about:
- Memorizing religious rules
- Pretending you’re fine
- Ignoring your pain or your past

It’s about drawing close enough to Him that His light begins to change how you see everything:
- Yourself
- Your relationships
- Your past and your future
- What really matters

You start to reflect the One you’re spending time with.

So the big question might not be:
“How can I improve myself?”

Maybe the deeper question is:
“Who – or what – am I actually orbiting my life around?”

Because sooner or later, you’ll resemble whatever you revolve around:
- If it’s money, everything becomes a transaction.
- If it’s other people’s approval, every rejection wrecks you.
- If it’s your career, losing your job feels like losing yourself.
- If it’s Jesus, you slowly start reflecting His peace, kindness, strength, and truth.

If you’re tired of:
- Trying to carry everything alone
- Pretending you’re the strong one all the time
- Doing “self-help” without seeing real transformation

You’re exactly the kind of person we started The Well Church for.

You don’t have to know any Bible verses.
You don’t have to dress a certain way.
You don’t have to agree with us on everything to sit with us.

You’re welcome to come:
- Curious
- Skeptical
- Wounded
- Tired
- Hopeful

Our goal is simple:
To help people meet Jesus, discover real hope, and learn how to live in His light in the middle of real life.

If something in this resonates, here’s a quiet starting point:
“Jesus, if You really are light and I’m not meant to be my own source, show me who You are. Help me get closer to You and reflect something of You to the people around me.”

And if you’d like to explore what that could look like in community, we’d love to see you this Sunday at OWA Theater in Foley, AL

You don’t have to be the sun.
You’re invited to be the moon.

Photos from The Well's post 06/02/2026

Just like the moon reflects the sun's light, we're called to reflect Christ's light in a dark world. This isn't about perfection—it's about transformation. When we say yes to Jesus, His light becomes our power source, the strongest in all creation.

Paul reminds us in Philippians 2:14-15 to "do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people." Growth isn't overnight—it takes discipline, consistency, and community. But when we work out our salvation with reverence, God works IN us, giving us the desire and power to please Him.

Your light matters. Whether at home, work, or the grocery store—every interaction is an opportunity to shine for Jesus. The world is searching. Will you be the light they need today?

Ever feel like you’re doing the *same things* over and over… but not really going anywhere?

Same stress.
Same battles.
Same reactions.
Same regrets.

It’s like being on a hamster wheel:
- You’re moving, but you’re not making progress.
- You’re tired, but you’re not changing.

The Bible talks about another way.

In Philippians 2, Paul writes to a group of ordinary people in a real city with real problems and says:
> “Work hard to show the results of your salvation…
> for God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” (Philippians 2:12–13)

That means:
- Spiritual growth isn’t about *pretending* to be better.
- It’s about letting God actually *change* us from the inside out.
- We do our part (show up, surrender, obey), and God does His part (transform, strengthen, guide).

Growth looks like:
- Responding with patience instead of anger (even when you *want* to throat-punch someone).
- Choosing honesty instead of hiding.
- Letting God prune habits, attitudes, and relationships that are draining you.

It’s not instant. It’s not easy. But it is possible.

And you don’t have to do it alone.

At The Well, we’re committed to:
- Asking each other the hard questions.
- Opening God’s Word and letting it shape how we live.
- Encouraging each other when we feel like giving up.

If you’re tired of the hamster wheel and ready to grow—even just a little—there’s a place for you with us.
