This play is silly and warm, lovely and a little sad. It’s one of those shows that makes you see things just a bit differently after, asks you to hold on tight to what you have, and encourages you to let go...because it’s all so short and beautiful.

Auditions for LONELY PLANET

Jody, a man in his forties.
Carl, a man in his early thirties.

Jody runs a map store. Not one for the outside world, he stays in his store all the time. His friend, Carl has been bringing chairs of dead friends into Jody's store and leaving them there. When Jody needs to take an AIDS test, Carl tries to convince him it is not only okay to leave the store but also that he must take responsibility for his life. If he doesn't, he will join the set of chairs that Carl has taken great pains to place in the right spots around the store. Through their interaction, the two realize how grateful they are to have such a strong lasting friendship.

Rehearsals: 3-4 days a week in June/July as determined by director/cast
Dates: August 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, tech—July 29, 30, 31
(Please note that every performance will have a talk-back after the show.)
Location: City Heights Performance Annex

There will be small stipends for cast.

Auditions are by appointment only, May 20 and 21 from 6-9pm at Liberty Station in Point Loma (rehearsals will also be held here).
