Types of Melanin
• Eumelanin: Brown-black pigment; strongly photoprotective.
• Pheomelanin: Red-yellow; less protective, can sometimes contribute to oxidative stress under certain conditions.
• Neuromelanin: Found in the brain (e.g., substantia nigra), involved in metal chelation (like iron), neuroprotection, and dopamine regulation.
Higher melanin levels generally correlate with better UV tolerance, but darker skin can sometimes mean slower vitamin D synthesis from UVB — a balance worth optimizing with strategic sun exposure (morning light, gradual “solar callus” building).
Relevance to Health Optimization
In quantum biology frameworks, melanin is viewed as nature’s “quantum material” — a bridge for light, electrons, and mitochondrial efficiency. Optimizing it involves:
• Natural light exposure: Especially UVA/UVB in a circadian-appropriate way to build melanin without burning.
• Avoiding nnEMF/artificial light: Which can disrupt these processes.
• Supporting factors: Nutrition (tyrosine-rich foods, copper balance per protocols like Root Cause), minerals, and overall mitochondrial health.

If you’re interested in peptides, I HIGHLY recommend understanding POMC and how to produce it-
IMHO exogenous peptides are not the answer
Your body makes them-
Learn what signals the body needs to produce them@naturally, implement necessary changes, and enjoy the results!
I’m 45y/o and regularly get asked if I take peptides (even steroids- which I find laughable because I’m 5’9” 170lbs)
I don’t take them- but my body certainly makes them!
Yours can too
