Let’s talk skin… I hate mine. I’m semi sensitive, and adult acne is my nemesis. But part of my journey in esthetics is improving my own skin, learning to cope and deal with triggers better so that if I come across a client dealing with similar issues I can relate and relay what I’ve learned that could help them.

Now my acne isn’t as bad as it was when I was 16-19. Thankfully. And I have done some work to get it in-line. but hormones always throw it throw a loop. I’m a stress picker and when I do they get real red. Stress, depression and anxiety trigger me to pick. Honestly a lot of the time I’m not aware of how bad I’ve made a spot till I’m past the point. I’ve had cellulitis on my chin before and I’m always paranoid of it coming back so if I have a deep pimple my brain always jumps to catastrophizing that it’s already turning to cellulitis bc it’s painful so I *HAVE* to pop it and make sure all is out at whatever cost to prevent it.

So thanks to years of picking and of course chicken pox as a child my skin is textured, my pores are large.

In school we used the woods lamp a little but never got to see our own skin through that light. I had the pleasure of dropping in to V/O MedSpa-Carmel location’s grand opening just over a week ago. Their SkinsCeuticals rep has a skin-scope so you could see your skin with the woods lamp. I was excited but also thinking the worst. Happy to say it wasn’t as bad as I expected.

I also spoke with a few of their staff learning a little more about their services and inquiring a bit. The medical aesthetician was great, and listened to my concerns and understood that I don’t have a strong routine and am budget conscious about dropping $$$ on products that might not even work. I asked her to recommend a hero product to start with that would easily go into my current struggle of a routine.

*Retinol* She said she wouldn’t even recommend a facial right away and that to commit to using the retinol for 6wks then come in for a facial.

The one she recommended and that I purchased that day committing to 6wks of using every 3 nights before going in for a facial, is the Zo Skin Health wrinkle + texture repair.

Days are ticking down!

It’s my last TUESDAY in school!

FRIDAY will be my last clock out. It will happen between 2:00p & 3:00p

Knocking out the last of my mark offs between now and Thursday and then also doing some self care to pamper myself before I finish.

My roots have gotten bad so a color refresh is on the books!

I am going to miss a lot of the girls I’ve been on this journey with. It’s so hard to believe I only have a few days left. I’ll be back to get some services from them before they all graduate in June.
