Come learn to fish on Monday (7/13) at 5:00pm! The park will be hosting a fishing clinic with instruction on knots, gear, and fishing techniques! Parking will be available at Blue Heron Reservoir (paved) and Pintail Pond (dirt). Park passes and fishing licenses are still required. May your fishing luck be somewhere between mine, and this Great Blue Heron's!

Amazing photo shoot promoting boat safety this (very early) morning with our Flatwater Marine Investigator, Senior Ranger, and the incomparable Senior Media Specialist, Jerry Neal. Video and images we got today will be used for many years promoting boat safety. Thanks to all staff that made this possible.

We know the perfect place!

Move over, Flat Stanley, there’s a new flat-themed quest in Colorado.

Introducing Flat 14ers ⛰️

To celebrate Colorado’s 150th birthday, you can now hike a 14er at your own pace in your own style. No steep climbing or loose rocks required. A Flat 14er is a new twist on hiking any number of Colorado’s famous 14,000-foot mountains –– but without the vertical.

Whether you’re tight on time, can’t make it to the high country or need an adventure that’s fit for lower mobility folks, check out a Flat 14er near you. These hikes mimic the same mileage as a true 14er hike, but you can do it in your own backyard, town or wherever works best for you.

At the end of the day, it’s all about spending time outside and being active. Whether you need a peaceful walk in the woods or want to tool around the block (more than a few times), Flat 14ers are meant for everyone.

Our juvenile Great Horned Owl is doing well and seems to be learning from mom quite a lot.
You can tell it's a juvenile, because it keeps asking if its mom can swoop by the fireworks stand.
