🎆 Fireworks in Firestone: Know the Law. Stay Safe. 🎆
As we celebrate Independence Day, the Firestone Police Department reminds everyone that fireworks that explode or leave the ground are illegal in Colorado unless they are part of a permitted professional display.
✅ What's Allowed?
A simple rule of thumb: If it stays on the ground and doesn't go "boom," it's generally legal.
🚓 Enforcement
Our officers will be actively enforcing fireworks laws throughout the holiday. Because fireworks violations are often brief, enforcement frequently depends on officers witnessing the violation or obtaining witness statements and other supporting evidence.
With current dry conditions, illegal fireworks pose a serious fire risk. Violations may result in municipal fines of up to $2,650.
Please remember that officers must also respond to emergencies involving an immediate threat to life or property. While we cannot guarantee an immediate response to every fireworks complaint, every report is prioritized and dispatched.
📞 To Report Illegal Fireworks
• Non-emergency: 720-652-4222
• Emergency: Call 9-1-1
🧯 If You Use Legal Fireworks
✔️ Dispose of used fireworks in water or a metal, fire-safe container.
✔️ Never allow children under 5 to use sparklers.
✔️ Closely supervise anyone under 16.
✔️ Sparklers burn at nearly 1,000°F—light only one at a time, hold them at arm's length, and consider wearing gloves.
🎇 Leave the Big Show to the Pros!
Celebrate with us at the 24th Annual 4th at Firestone, where the day concludes with a spectacular professional fireworks display.
Thank you for helping keep Firestone safe this Independence Day! 🇺🇸

At approximately 1:00 p.m. today, we responded to a serious three-vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Firestone Blvd and East I-25 Frontage Road.
The crash involved three vehicles, including a semi-truck. Preliminary investigation indicates the semi-truck was traveling northbound on the Frontage Road when a southbound pickup truck turned in front of it. The semi-truck struck the pickup broadside, then swerved to the right and collided with a third vehicle that was turning north onto the Frontage Road from Firestone Blvd.
Six individuals were transported to area hospitals, several with serious injuries.
The intersection was closed for several hours while first responders assisted the injured and officers conducted the on-scene investigation. The roadway has since been fully reopened to traffic.
This crash remains under active investigation. We are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dash camera footage of the incident to please contact 720-652-4222 and ask to speak with a Firestone police officer.
This is an important reminder to use caution at intersections, carefully assess approaching traffic, and avoid rushing turns. Taking an extra moment to ensure the roadway is clear can help prevent serious crashes.
We appreciate the patience of our community during the road closure and thank all assisting first responders for their swift response. Our thoughts are with those injured and their families.
