Festus Intermediate School

We held our annual D.A.R.E graduation this morning. 5th grade students completed the D.A.R.E. program this year. They learned how to resist peer pressure to use alcohol, to***co, vapes, and drugs. They also learned how to handle other peer pressure situations. Officers Placke and Brookshire taught the D.A.R.E. classes. Students wrote essays about D.A.R.E.. The top ten received a D.A.R.E. lion and a certificate. The overall winner, Raeleigh Derousse. She also received a gift card and a pin. On Monday, April 20th, sixth grade students celebrated their 5th grade MAP performance at the PAC. The top 10% scorers in ELA, science, and math were given a certificate on stage. This week sixth graders are ELA MAP testing and will take their math MAP test the week of May 4th.

5th graders received MAP medals today based on their 4th grade MAP scores last spring. Students scoring proficient in ELA and/or Math received silver medals. Those scoring advanced received gold medals. Anyone who showed significant improvement from 3rd grade to 4th grade received a bronze medal. They received the medals from the teachers they had in 4th grade last year. Congratulations Tigers. 5th graders begin taking their MAP tests next week. Good luck.
