ely to check another goal off the “bucket list”, but to use this opportunity to make a difference. To leverage this adventure for something greater and more significant than just a long race. He began dreaming about more than simply running a distance, but accomplishing a task beyond anything he had ever attempted before. With that, the nonprofit corporation Beyond Our Borders was created. In the year leading up to the race, Bob will be training as well as raising support for each of the 56 miles that he will cover on May 31, 2015. His goal is to raise $2,000 per mile, totaling $112,000. THE KHAYELITSHA PROJECT:
Imagine growing up in a city where half of the 2.4 million residents are under the age of 19. Living in shacks, children raising siblings because their parents died from AIDS. Nearly three in four people are unemployed and poverty, crime, drugs and gangs are rampant. That city is Khayelitsha in Western Cape, South Africa. With the funds raised, we will be partnering with Cape Missions International to construct a community center in the heart of Khayelitsha. This center will house a church, clinic, pre-school and feeding center. Oversight of the center will be under the leadership of Pastor Victor Valayshia and his team. Their dream is to have 400 students in the school by the end of 2015. We will also be collaborating with Celebrate Life South Africa to fund the Teach One to Lead One (T1L1) leadership development program. This proven program is aimed at raising up the next generation of leaders to reverse the downward spiral of poverty and injustice. OUR SPONSORS: Woods Coffee is generously covering all business expenses. Because of Woods, B.O.B. is able to give 100% of your donations to the Khayelitsha Project.
