How many city council candidates can say that they've literally crawled under porches, cleaned garages and around dumpsters, and spent hundreds of hours over the course of 3 years helping Ferndale residents and business owners to fix one of our most nagging and ubiquitous problems?

Ferndale friends, I need your help. After much debate and talk with Ferndale Rat Patrol members and Ferndale residents alike, I've decided to pull a petition to get on the ballot for a city council position in November.

If you haven't signed two petitions already, please let me know if you'd consider signing mine or helping to collect signatures. I'll gladly come to your house to get a signature. We have 1 week to get 150 signatures. Let me take your petition signature virginity! I'll even check your yard for rats while I'm there :)

Besides my stance on rats & sanitation (which I'm pretty sure you all can guess), my stance is:
- Increase city responsiveness to resident complaints
- Better enforcement of policies surrounding waste management in our downtown area
- Increase proactive communication of important topics like city and commission meetings, initiatives, and outcomes
- Enthusiastic transparency
- Budgetary scrutiny & increased evaluation of tax incentives to developers
- Implementation and expansion of existing tree planting initiatives to increase home values and reduce storm water run off
- Implementation of sustainability initiatives surrounding more robust use of green space to improve the environment
- much, much more

Hello All- the open house has been scheduled for 1641 and 1723 Beaufield for Sun, 1/14/18 from 3-5. There will be live music and light refreshments. I’d love to have everyone check it out.

Any ideas what we're getting at 801/803 W 9?

Thanks to those that have added porch lights to their evening routines! I felt an urge to get our street brighter overnight. Here's a big reason why!

I'm in the middle of the block and at midnight I can't help but notice there is almost a total blackout as far as porch lights. My neighbors to my left & right and myself are lit up but the west side it's a total blackout-- I see one house down closer to 9 that's on.

Let's make an effort keep our block well lit so we don't attract car and god-forbid home robberies. It's seriously the cheapest deterrent. That and keeping cars and houses locked at night.

As most of you most likely know, Beaufield, Dover & Kenton have rats. Some neighbors have been trapping for years. I'm new to it because one made a home on my property and that's just not ok.
I've lived on Beaufield for almost 15 years and never saw one until after our 2013/14 streetscape on w 9 mile.

Please pick up pet waste and tightly seal your garbage in cans. I also encourage you to join or check out "ferndale rat patrol" for tons of advice and tips. You can also request someone to come out and check your property. Several of us on my block have.

Hey Beaufieldians! I need a few stacks of newspapers to make a piñata asap.
I also am collecting paper towel tubes for kiddos school (through May!)
If anyone has these things and can leave them on your porch for me to pick up I'd appreciate it!

Neighbors on Kenton, and west Beaufield fence lines, the company that DTE contracted to chop out marked trees are rolling through. Be sure to check your fences, sheds, garages etc, They are allegedly leaving a trail of damage in other areas of town. I read a few detailed complaints on Ferndale forum.
