5 Tips for Printing on MGX Rigid Vinyl PVC
➡️Start with the right PVC grade for your press.
MGX Rigid Vinyl PVC is available in three grades: ID for HP Indigo, DT for Dry Toner, and UVI for UV Inkjet. Choosing the correct grade for your press technology is the first step toward a successful print run.
➡️Remember that PVC is a specialty substrate, not a standard paper stock.
PVC is a non-porous plastic surface, so ink and toner adhesion depend on the right coating, press settings, and print conditions. Because PVC typically has medium-to-low surface energy, proper grade selection helps ensure ink wets out and bonds to the surface correctly.
➡️Keep the pressroom environment controlled.
As a non-conductive material, PVC can generate static, which may attract dust and particulates that cause print blemishes. MGX’s DT coating helps reduce static on dry toner presses, and maintaining proper humidity can also support smoother production.
➡️Choose PVC for the right applications.
Rigid Vinyl PVC is best suited for flat projects where stiffness, durability, and rigidity matter. It is not recommended for folded applications, but it is a strong choice for signage, placards, cards, tags, door hangers, temporary license plates, and other flat-use pieces.
➡️Sample first for real-world performance.
Test the material on your press technology before production, so you know how it runs, prints, and finishes. Sampling in advance helps you identify which MGX product is the best fit before the project lands on press.
