1990 in Fayetteville
Punkinhead at Studio 225

Very early pic. 225 had just opened.
The band was about three months old and I think this was our fourth show.

For the band, what lies ahead?
Way too much travel, an overdose of adventure, tragedy, joy, elation and quite a bit of danger. All of us narrowly escaped death.
It was a great time.

But in the innocent early days you see here, kinda hard to have a bad day in Fayetteville.

I count myself a fortunate man. In friends and family, the time and place I was born, my life experience. And now with cancer.

The way this was discovered was a fluke. Then how quickly discovery led to treatment. Both fortunate. How well I learned to endure the treatment, and how well I’m doing at this point compared to others going through the same thing? Very fortunate.

Now this was still the hardest three months of my life, no question. And for several weeks things were just very dark. But people like you came to my aid and comfort, I could feel your support, I connected or reconnected with a large group of meaningful people in my life that I love and respect. I have a clarity I did not have before. And although my spiritual side was already very deep, this season of my life leaves me even deeper and very much in love with my human family, brothers and sisters all.

I try to show gratitude for my good fortune by living joyfully.
Here’s a pic of me when there was nobody happier in the whole county.
Beams of joy radiating in every direction.

Here’s to gettin back to that real quick.
