Not too long ago, a call came in from John at A Affordable with a 2018 Volkswagen Golf 1.6L using the 09G transmission. The original transmission was so badly damaged that the shop opted to buy a cutout replacement from a vehicle that had 60,000 miles on it. A quick look at the inside revealed that this transmission had “like new” friction plates.
A new filter didn't fix it, and neither did a reman valve body. So what did?
