After what seems like a lifetime, we are done with citrus farming.
We have spent years keeping the orchard up. all spring and summer: grass cutting, fertilizing, killing weeds, working on equpiment making sure water is on..then, picking, grading, sacking from fall to winter. Loading and pulling the truck out during season. To do it all again tomorrow and the next day until we were out of fruit or the freeze would make us done
At times it has been an all consuming business, all while we had our “real” full time jobs.
We have seen our families grow up having a farm life. We have spent time together (even if we didn’t want to) keeping the farm going.
We passed on events/ vacations: “Sorry I can’t it’s picking season”
It has been a job, a headache, an endless chore and a complete joy. I am overcome with emotions at this end to our journey. Happy we had it, sad to see it go, and regretting the kids will not have it anymore.
To our customers::: thank you for your yearly support. Thank you for choosing us and keeping the honor system for the farm a thing.
