We are a group of people that live in Solano and Napa Counties that care about what happens to Foster, Emancipated and At-Risk Youth. We are just regular moms, dads, aunts, uncles, neighbors, etc....that want to help you get ahead in life. No one receives any money for helping.
*WHO WE ARE NOT: We are not social workers. We are just average people in Solano County that came together to help suppo
rt you. We get no money from the Federal Government, no money from the State of California and no money from any one organization. We are simply funded by asking people and businesses for donations to help support our Youth.
*WHAT WE DO WEEKLY: Based on our donations, we can help with bus passes, emergency hotel night, food, toiletries, rides to work or to an appointment occasionally, school supplies, homework help, work clothes, finding an apartment, providing household items such as dishes, towels, sheets, lamps, silverware and sometimes TV's, nightstands, blenders, etc.. depending on what we get donated.
*WHAT WE ALSO DO: Hold several events throughout the year such as Easter Basket giveaway, Christmas Stockings & Party, Birthday BBQ Party, Cooking Classes, etc... As well as speaking to various businesses, groups, churches, clubs asking for donations.
*WHAT WE LOVE TO SEE: We love to see our youth all working hard to make a stable future for themselves by going to college if possible, finding steady work, sharing with each other, not being afraid to ask for something but also being appreciative, understanding that we are limited and can only do so much due to our work schedules and money donated. WHO STARTED HEART 2 HEART: Jodie Williams. Have learned about the terrible odds stacked against former foster children when they emancipate out of care, I could not sit by and do nothing. It is not enough to just make sure my children in my safe little world were okay....what about the children in my own community that are parentless or have parents that are not functioning at a stable level? We don't get to pick who we are born to and to have to live with the consequences of adult actions that they have no control over is a burden no child should have to bear. Over the last 20 years, I have organized youth outreaches in at risk neighborhoods, taught middle school drama classes in the Monterey Bay area, been a youth group leader and 11 years ago when I moved up to Solano County, I was a volunteer with Foster A Dream in Contra Costa County, a volunteer with CINOH in Solano County and also with Napa County Family and Foster Parent Association. If you need references, I can provide them. We offer support through donation drives, events, activities and volunteering our time and money with the ultimate goal of blessing as many foster children/at risk youth as we possibly can. We make it our mission to bring smiles, to show value, to remind them that they are worth our every effort.
