Special thanks to Airworx for coming to demo the latest UAS tech from DJI and Autel Robotics on day 2 of our Intro to UAS Ops at Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy, supported by Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. Airworx raffled off a new drone, which was won by the Town of Haysi Police!

Great support from vendors helps push public safety UAS forward, thanks Airworx.

Today the Unit wrapped up the first half of instruction on Part 107 at Virginia Highlands Community College as part of our Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services sponsored training. This instruction is brining Public Safety UAS training to Southwest Virginia agencies in collaboration with Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy. Instructors from Mason, Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Fairfax County Police Department, and City of Fairfax Fire Department are providing instruction all week.

Mason Police UAS Unit have been on scene today assisting Page County Fire-EMS, Page County Sheriff's Office, Page County Emergency Management, Page County Emergency Communications Center, Virginia Department of Forestry and others in Page County, Virginia with working to control the wildland fires. The use of DroneSense has allowed on scene commanders to allocate resources to keep the citizens safe.

Today the Mason Police UAS Unit had the honor of assisting with the Celebration of Life of Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Sterling Volunteer Fire Company Fire Fighter Trevor Brown. The support shown was truly awe inspiring, and showed the impact that he had on his community.
