As we come to chapters 13-21 in Joshua, the promise land is divided up and apportioned according to the tribes of Israel. God has been faithful to his promise and has silenced Israel's enemies within the land. Finally, Israel receives their inheritance and has rest in the land. And their receipt of their inheritance is a glorious foretaste of our future inheritance in Christ. Join us via livestream this morning at 10.

In Joshua chapter 11, we read the continuing conquest of Israel through the northern region of the promise land. As Israel takes possession of the promise land, we see the sovereignty of God and human responsibility working in tandem. God gives sovereign assurance and Israel acts with courage. In so doing, Israel finds the LORD to be faithful and wholly sufficient for all their needs. Indeed, even when Israel faces their greatest fear, God proves to be more than enough for them. One of the themes throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is the theme of the LORD as a warrior. Often we can be uncomfortable with this theme. But it is this role of the LORD as a warrior that we, as fallen, finite creatures, desperately need. The Bible describes the LORD going to battle on behalf of his people to save them from their enemies, both mortal and spiritual. And in Joshua chapter 10, we see God's role as a warrior is intimately tied to his Kingship over his people. Join us via livestream this morning at 10.
