When a few months ago the opportunity came opportunity came up to have Alvin act as an assistant manager with the varsity baseball team we were excited but also very worried. We've been conditioned to hope for the best and expect the worst.
What came of that opportunity was far more than we ever expected. After a week he was traveling to away games with the team.He arrived on site to each game excited and not wanting his parents anywhere around! He talked about his friends which has rarely ever happened. They even went as far as to surprise him on his birthday which was a complete shock.
This morning amongst so much of the chaos getting this email was was one of the best things I've seen. For a kid who wasn't even able to play coach pitch before getting bullied off of the team to now letter with the baseball team in high school is the best thing.
Is this 100% proves that inclusion works!
