When Susie and Justin got engaged, they didn’t want photos in front of a skyline or a forest path. They wanted portraits that truly represented them—which meant including their beloved pets: cats Furrdinand and Fuzzy, and yes, even their box turtle named Turtle.

Having already experienced a Sutton Studios session eight years earlier with her late cat Wilco, Susie knew exactly where to go. “Even though Wilco is no longer with us, I can still look at the photos and remember how soft his fur was and how he purred,” she shared.

Now living in Colorado, their portraits are proudly displayed in their home, sparking conversations and reminding them of what matters most: their chosen family.

“I know the animals won’t always be with us,” says Susie, “but these photos will be.”

Susie and Justin now own and operate Crimson Cat Studios in Denver, Colorado.
