Huge thank you to our Jordan Gentzkow who spent time with CALCI’s HumaniTech students, sharing his expertise and demonstrating one of the toys he’s adapted.
Seeing the process up close helped students better understand what thoughtful, human-centered design looks like—and how small changes can make a big difference in accessibility and joy.
We’re grateful for professionals who share their knowledge and help inspire the next generation of inclusive designers. 💙🤖🧸

Students in CALCI’s HumaniTech program recently completed a powerful project centered on empathy and accessibility.
Working one-on-one with peers in Unified Robotics, each HumaniTech student adapted a toy to meet the specific needs of their peer—listening, testing, and refining along the way. The project culminated in a toy giveaway, where each adapted toy was gifted to the student it was designed for.
This experience highlights the heart of HumaniTech: using technical skills to design with people, not just for them.

Every year, CALCI is filled with moments that remind us why hands-on, real-world learning matters. This week, we asked students to share their favorite CALCI memory or moment, and their answers were honest, funny, thoughtful, and full of pride.
From the first time they picked up a new tool… to seeing their project finally work… to collaborating with community partners… these memories show what happens when students are trusted to build, create, solve, and lead.
Here are a few of their favorite moments—paired with photos of students in action.
Their voices say it best. 💬📸✨
Real interviews. Real memories.
Real learning that sticks.
Here’s what students had to say about their favorite CALCI moments. ✨🔧

We want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Tom Madison from Lane Community College’s Graphic Design program!
Tom has been a steady supporter of Creative Current since day one, and a couple weeks ago he joined our students to offer thoughtful, professional feedback as they design the logo for Lane CTE’s new Behavioral Health Pathway.
His guidance helps our young creatives grow their skills and confidence, and his partnership strengthens the work we do throughout the community. Thank you for everything you bring to our program, Tom! 🙏🎨
