Community and connection is a theme for summertime. When we make the time to come together, magic happens. Personally, we’ve been prioritizing shared meals with loved ones, playtime for our daughter and other babies and nourishing time with other like minded humans.

Life can feel like a grind. Yet, when we come together with positive and uplifting souls, life feels more beautiful, tolerable and joyful. We carry each other’s hearts along for the ride long after the gathering occurred. Prioritizing positive community interaction brings an effervescence and lightness to our lives.

Jonah’s newsletter reflections last week were vulnerable and had me reflecting on the shadowy parts of myself and patterns that have played out in my life: people pleasing, perfectionism, overcommitting, busyness, overwhelm, self criticism and criticism of others, judgement… the list goes on, really.

Motherhood continues to crush these patterns— the slowness that’s been required of this journey has quieted the people pleaser and busy body. The constant mess has helped me soften my perfectionist (it’s nearly impossible to keep up with). Other mamas have helped me soften and release criticism and judgement. It’s a continuous journey over here but I have to be very real with myself and what’s practical each day.

It’s so important to know our WHY for why we give. Is it from a place of desire or obligation? Joy and excitement or pleasing others? I have to ask myself these questions often…
