This National Forensic Interviewers Week, we are honoring the incredible professionals who give child victims of abuse a safe, neutral space to be heard.
A forensic interview is culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and legally sound. These specialists ask the hard, open-ended questions that minimize further trauma while gathering critical facts for justice.
Thank you to our Kids FIRST interviewers for your immense patience, empathy, and specialized skill.

Celebrating the 4th of July or any fun summer activity can be exciting! It's also a good time for children and their adults to check in about safety before hanging out in gatherings. It doesn't have to be a long conversation, but simple chats can give kids the confidence to recognize unsafe situations, trust their instincts, and ask for help when they need it.
Need a few resources to get the conversation started? Check out KidSmartz from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. https://www.ncmec.org/education/kidsmartz

Thank you so much to the Three Rivers Foundation for its recent grant award to Kids FIRST! The $20,000 will help fund our mental health services. Children who experience trauma can require specialized therapy support. Last year, the Kids FIRST therapy team supported 117 children with therapy services. These dollars will continue helping children heal.
