Democratize UO

Democratize UO is in solidarity with and their efforts to prevent the second phase of the Knight Campus expansion from harming the University of Oregon Urban Farm. Similar to many campus issues, it’s clear to see how this fight is the result of the way corporate interests have overtaken the UO Administration and governance system — completely disregarding the interests of students, faculty, staff, and the local community. The Urban Farm is a thriving and vibrant hub for students who seek to understand their environment and gain the foundational and life sustaining knowledge of how to grow their own food. We will not let capital construction jeopardize this special space for students and the community. 🍓🥦🥕🍋🫑🍅🥬🌽

Come join an amazing coalition standing together in solidarity for the health and safety of the UO community! The event is at 11:30am on Friday 1/21 in front of Johnson Hall on campus. Please wear a mask (N95/KN95 preferably), social distance, and bring a sign and a friend!

“Students and community members called upon President Micheal Schill and the greater University to publicize its investments. The Board of Trustees called an impromptu public meeting during the middle of the day during midterm week and gave less than 24 hours to submit comments. This is a direct attempt to subvert public accessibility and ignore the demands of the community.”
