Mercyhurst University, a private, residential university in Erie, Pennsylvania, is home to more than 3,000 students. It offers a wide range of academic programs that provide hands-on, professional preparation, including over 100 undergraduate areas of study, dozens of graduate programs, and associate degree/certificate options. In addition to a vibrant campus life, Mercyhurst hosts 26 varsity athletic teams, which compete at NCAA Division I or II as the Lakers.

When Edgar Lee Masters published "Spoon River Anthology" in 1915, readers had never encountered anything quite like it. Rather than painting an idealized portrait of small-town America, Masters gave voice to more than 200 ordinary people who, from beyond the grave, candidly revealed the town's hidden dreams, disappointments, triumphs, and failures. The result was one of the most celebrated collections in American poetry—one that continues to captivate readers more than a century later.
In just three weeks, rehearsals begin for our production of The Spoon River Project, a moving theatrical adaptation that brings many of these voices to life through storytelling and song.
