My name is Anne Capener. I'm a private reading tutor here in Erie, Colorado. I specialize in early reading development, ages 3-8.

A little bit about me:
I've been an elementary school teacher since 2008. I have a Masters in Educational Learning & Technology. I've been formally trained in multiple reading programs, including SVVSD Orton-Gillingham. I know from experience which parts of which programs work, and incorporate them into my own approach to small-group instruction.

I live in Colliers Hill in Erie with my husband and two sons.

My approach:
My approach is 100% systematic phonics instruction. If that doesn't mean much to you right now, fear not, all will become clear in time.

Building on work I started during my Masters, I've developed - and continue to refine - an algorithm that ranks the frequency of each and every word, sound and sound-spelling in over 500 children's books. As far as I am aware, I am the first to systematically do this.

What this means for you - your child will begin with the most frequent sounds and sound-spellings, and then work their way down. It's an optimal system of progression, and I am in the process of developing it into a National reading program.

Part of my process is to provide parents with the materials and skills to work with your child in-between tutoring sessions. I will often bring you in during the last ten minutes of a session to facilitate this.
