White Mountain Peak
White Mountain Peak stands at 14,252β tall. It is the third highest peak in California, behind Mt. Whitney and Williamson. One of the attractive aspects of hiking to βbagβ this peak, is that you can actually drive up a dirt road to about 10,000β or so, where you can park and begin your hike. This mountain is unique in that it is only one of 2 fourteeners in California that are not within the Sierra Nevada, the other being Mt. Shasta. The University of California has research facilities near the top where they conduct studies on the effects of altitude on physiology.
