Since 1986, ongoing studies and practice have included the body-mind relationship, emotional release work, deep tissue massage, swedish massage, sports massage, polarity therapy, acupressure, craniosacral therapy, reiki, and Rubenfeld synergy. Current services include one or more modalities pertinent to the client’s needs, with the client being clothed and without the use of creams, liniments, and oils. WHAT A SESSION ENTAILS
The initial visit begins with gathering information regarding a person’s history and current concerns. Through a holistic approach, each session is customized accordingly. Receiving the work is a two-way process. Your feedback is a key element, as is, staying open to what you are experiencing while receiving the work. Doing so, increases your body-mind awareness both during and after the session. As well, the quality of “allowing” is instrumental in the transformational process. Sessions unfold like a good novel, each discovery revealed according to the body’s timing. Like inertia, once movement (or change) begins, it continues during, and after the session. Support work such as exercises, visualizations, and breath work, specific to what emerged in the session, may be given to maintain and continue the results from your session as a new lifestyle, rather than a brief encounter. Immediately afterwards, if your schedule permits, it is recommended to “invest in your investment” by doing what supports your transformation most. That may be a stroll in nature, a nourishing meal, a luxurious nap, or anything that brings you peace and happiness. Workshops Available:
Caring for the Caregiver
Balancing everyone’s needs can be challenging in any care giving situation, whether by profession, or circumstance. Seven years into my massage career I reached an imbalance in giving. The conception of Caring for the Caregiver resulted from my process of restoring balance in both my professional and personal life. My first workshop was given to massage students just entering the field and studying at The School of Healing Arts in San Diego, CA. (See article in Fall 1995 Life Lines). Since then I have shared Caring for the Caregiver in various formats such as, support groups, monthly business meetings, retreats, hospitals and corporations.
“We all deserve academy awards” said my acupuncturist Roy Nasby when pressing my sore acupuncture points. When we’re tired we keep going, when we’re angry or frustrated we smile and carry on. This serves a certain purpose, yes, and being unauthentic also takes its toll. How then do you care for yourself while caring for others? How do you keep peace outside as well as inside? Caring for the Caregiver workshop uses concepts in Tai Chi such as ‘strength through softness’, and ‘invest in loss’ and other experiential exercises and student interaction for lively learning and viable application. All presentations are customized for client’s needs within the time frame chosen. Workshops are given in two hour presentations (the minimum), half day and full day formats. Autumn fun has begun...this is a mixed media show as well as my debut for three pieces of my nature photography selected by jurors, titled: Portal to Another World, Death Comes Abruptly, Sacred Fire is Lit! There is a rails to trails hike nearby, and three restaurants I recommend: Rein's Deli, Vernon Diner, Simply Thai.
