It is our mission to seek out dogs where there is need, to bring them to us where they are placed in loving foster homes and prepare them for their forever families. Our community outreach program will offer New Adopter classes whether you adopt from us or not. We need your help. Adopt, don’t shop. If you can’t adopt, foster. If you can’t foster, volunteer or donate to our cause. We may not be able to make a difference to all of the dogs in the world, but for the dogs we are able to rescue, we will make a world of difference. Education
Almost Home Dog Rescue is committed to helping educate owners or potential owners about dog training and dog behavior. We strive to make sure each dog that we adopt stay in their adoptive home. Each year, millions of dogs are returned to shelters or euthanized for behavior issues that could have been avoided if the adopter had the knowledge and skills to prevent and/or address these unwanted behaviors. We offer free seminars about dogs and dog behavior, as well as free adopter’s workshops to teach adopters about anything and everything they need to know about their new dog. We have free puppy play times to discuss body language and play styles. We provide education about spaying and neutering. We want to help people to be able to identify when and if their dog may have an issue or problem that can be address as soon as possible. We have access to a network of positive dog trainers in Maryland and will offer discounts to training classes and or/private sessions as needed.
