This seminar will train family law and mental health professionals in custody cases involving intrafamily coercive controlling abuse when there is no obvious evidence of physical or sexual abuse. The educational goal of the seminar is to provide training on how to screen for, prove, evaluate and adjudicate these cases. Join Judges, Lawyers, Mental Health Professionals, Court Administrators and others in this cutting edge, multi-disciplinary, skills-based training that will provide 1) an overview of the growing body of social science research that has addressed this severe form of domestic violence, focusing especially on its short and long term impact on children; 2) a protocol to screen for coercive controlling abuse in all family law and mental health settings; 3) a methodology to gather data and/or evidence to demonstrate coercive control and 4) a framework for evaluating and deciding custody cases involving intrafamily coercive control.
